Obama Wants to "Block" the religious Right

We need to take faith seriously not simply to block the religious right but to engage all persons of faith in the larger project of American renewal.

- Barack Obama; The Audacity of Hope; p. 216

Do you want this man for President?

Tim, what about the religious right do you want to block?

I was just being a little flippant, but here goes. . .

1.) A disproportionate focus on individualism.

2.) An approach that is often counterproductive and forgets (in my opinion) the context of eternity at times. When you marry "God and politics" and politics gets dirty, God's name suffers.

3.) The inference that patriotism and Christianity are necessarily linked and that without one you can't have the other.

4.) A deeper focus on being willing to address underlying issues as contrasted with simply opposing the surface area symptoms.

5.) The consistent dechristianizing of those who share different political views.

I will post my other 25 later. . . :)

Are these exclusively owned by the religious right?

Hmmm. . . might this "Tim" person be NMF77? LOL!

No, I don't think they are exclusively owned by the religious right. I am somewhat curious about the inferred reasoning however. I'm never quite sure where to go with cases of "well, we aren't the only ones".

I obviously think a few of my points are largely owned by the religous right. . .
