I will agree with you on the fact that there are outward symbols that this world uses to indicate happenings (wedding rings)that may or may not be pleasing to God BBUUUTTT I am also not afraid to say that we (more Christians than non) seem to put a focus on the things that people wear instead of worrying about the gossiping and the running of the tongue that is mentioned more in the bible than a piece of jewelry. We seem to get more concerned about what people are doing and wearing around us, rather than focusing on OURSELVES and the lives that God has called US to live. Sure Genesis to Rev. gives specifics that God intends us to know and to follow, but He also takes people right where they are and uses them in ways that other people in God's work may never be able to do!! Let's not forget that even inspite of our own choices and decisions that we make in this life as 'sinners that can only be saved by His grace'... HE LOVES US JUST AS MUCH AS THE ONE WHO FEELS THEY ARE 'RIGHT' IN GOD'S EYES WITH EVERY AREA OF THEIR LIFE. We as humans tend to assume that if people aren't living and looking like us, they are somehow a little more unworthy than we are. As one who has tested God's love a time or two (and not proudly I might add)I know how I have been made to feel (an unworthy, hell-bound, scum that wasn't worth the spit that flies from the mouth) in terms of some "ideas" that the people around me felt were more important to point out or pick out than to come to me in God's love and say "we may not understand, but know we are praying that God will strengthen you and keep you"... I am fully aware that as Christians we are called to live a life worthy of Him, that we are expected to share His good news in accordance to His word, but I somedays truely wonder if He feels that we are messing up His intentions all together by focusing on superficial items of senseless chatter. Let's worry more about our roles as Christians stewards of the money and resources we are allowed to have here on earth... let's worry more about being debt free (not indebted to ANY MAN... creditcard company, mortgage broker, family, friends,..)and live off of the government and go around holier-than-thou say that the hard earned money that is paid in taxes to the government by some people is "deserved" by those who choose to reproduce endlessly and not work or use the two hands and feet God gave them to be productive. We have ALOT to worry about and be concerned about in this Crazy, Hell Run World, BUT it ultimately comes down to being more concerned with ourselves than with others. At the time of Judgment, we will only answer for OURSELVES. (On a brief sidenote... I know many non-ring wearing, married people who DO NOT exemplify a God centered home and relationship with their spouse. I heard a quote today that really was thought provoking..."the shortest distance between Heaven and Hell is 18 inches"..from the head to the heart. (It is not a head thing but a heart thing, so don't get caught up in the things of the world and loose Faith or focus on what is most important of all)! He's the Only Reason I live... but OH WHAT A REASON!!!
PS....Santa Claus??? isn't that sending a mixed message??
